美国弗利尔美术馆收藏的八大山人部分作品
八大山人朱耷为明末宗室，一生亲历国破家亡、亲人离散。青年之际时局倾覆，他被迫遁入空门，常年隐于山林、缄默避世，胸中积满沉郁郁结。坎坷的身世，造就了他孤冷孤傲的人格底色。他不再直言悲喜，只以笔墨泄尽胸中之块垒，正如郑板桥一语道破：“墨点无多泪点多。”
八大早年谨遵帖学正统，深耕欧体唐楷，兼习董其昌、米芾、黄庭坚诸家。晚年他专以秃笔作中锋匀净线条。笔无锐锋、线无跌宕，笔墨删繁就简、逸笔草草，褪去所有刻意技法与浮华装饰。线条外柔内刚、绵里藏铁，看似平淡空寂，毫无波澜，却暗藏遗民的孤傲隐忍、家国之思与绝不折腰的风骨。
“高山仰止，墨染千秋——八大山人诞辰400周年特展”已在南昌启幕。这场重磅展览，让世人再度聚焦这位享誉千古的赣地艺术巨匠。但我认知八大山人，是从两本从美国王方宇 (1913-1997)的八大山人法书集开始的，文物出版社出版的中国名家法书系列。1998年在广州市中心北京路购得，彩色印刷，无比精美。一时爱不释手，沉醉其中，不能自已，世间竟然有如此简淡旷远的笔墨。网站建站初期就扫描了其中一些图片。
